Honda’s new Dio is just PhP49,900

Honda hopes to make getting around in the new normal easy, affordable, and also stylish with the arrival of its latest model, the all-new Dio.

This new scooter from Honda is priced at just PhP49,900, PhP17,000 less than its original entry-level AT scooter, the BeAT, which starts at PhP66,900. It has even managed to undercut another budget rival, the TVS Dazz Prime. 

The Dio hopes to be many Filipinos new daily commute with its durable, multi-purpose design.


The Dio is powered by an air-cooled, 109cc, four-stroke single overhead cam (SOHC) carburetor engine that produces 8 PS (5.89kW) at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 8.91-Nm at 5000 rpm. It’s paired with a V-belt automatic for easy use. The Dio can be started electrically of via conventional kickstart.

The Dio has a 5.3-liter fuel tank capacity. Honda claims it’s capable of achieving 58.3 km/l average fuel consumption (at 40 km/h). That gives it a theoretical range of 309 kilometers on one full tank.

It rides on a bottom link front shock system and a mono-shock in the rear. It rides on 10-inch steel wheels with tubeless tires. Bringing it to a stop are drum brakes in the front and rear, with the inclusion of Honda’s Combi-brake system.

The rider gets a wide dual gauge meter panel with a speedometer and fuel gauge. On the front shield is a secure key shutter and seat release button. It also features an LED headlight and position light to make it easy to spot.

Under the seat itself a 14.4-liter utility box for storing items. Honda has also included a front hook and a retractable rear hook to carry shopping bags or grocery bags.

“As the latest addition to our motorcycle offerings, the all-new Dio is our way of helping everyone face today’s everyday challenges. People will surely love it because, with this multi-purpose scooter, they can always seize the day,” said HPI President Susumu Mitsuishi.

The all-new DIO will be available in all Honda Dealerships nationwide starting this May 2021 with a Suggested Retail Price of PhP49,900.

It’s available in three colors: Candy Jazzy Blue, Sports Red, and Vibrant Orange.
